I’d like to meet the guy from Toyota who thinks that the only way to keep your ten year old designs current is to add more squares and sharpen the curves.
I’d like to break his hand so he can never design again because he’s not doing a very good job.

I’d be OK with this apart from the black split in the grille.

My god. That platform was achingly ancient when I sold Toyotas in 2014!

oh if you think the outside is dated

Yet the first gen Sequoia is still a great looking vehicle. While I had a 2012 Tundra, I never could warm up to the 2nd gen Sequoia.

My dad had a 05 Tundra SR5, has a 05 Sequoia SR5, and a 14 Tundra Platinum and I think the 14 Tundra is only his favorite because the amenities. The 2005 models were almost perfect.

The interior on my ‘12 Tundra felt old when i got it. My neighbor traded “up” from his ‘13 Rock Warrior to the refreshed ‘14 1794 back in 2014. I think it would’ve been cheaper to just have leather covers added.

Do you mean Mopar?

That’s a good interior though

I preferred my ‘02 Tundra to the ‘12. I liked them both, but if I had to choose between the two in brand new form, I’d take the ‘02 every time. Heck, I’d take it over my Taco now.

I love the capability of the ‘14 but as a DD the ‘05 may be one of the comfiest trucks I’ve ever been in.

The only thing that I like about this thing is the new LEDs it comes with, otherwise this thing is just outdated

I like the black bits on the grille frame, it’s like a faux floating pillar for the front of the car.

Mopar’s guilty too, but Toyota is a company that knows better.

Realistucally, this generation needs to be put out to pasture.

I will take this moment to wrathfully blather something about my least favorite modern design standard element: FUCKING ASS BUCKET STINKING FISHWIFE SLARTIBARTFAST SIX-HOLE FRONT DESIGN CRABAPPLE BULLSHIT.

Fucking Ass Bucket Stinking Fishwife Slatribartfast Six-Hole Front Design Crabapple Bullshit is my favorite Hitchhiker’s Guide character.

mainstream cars are like clothes from Old Navy or the Gap now ... there’s standard types (shorts, t-shirt, polo, jeans) and they just change little things here and there for the next season. people don’t care what it looks like since they have to buy something to replace the worn out old one, as long as the new one is different enough to get their attention, but not so different as to repulse them.

Their engine guys must learn from the body guys. The 1.8 in the Corolla has been around how long now?

Same here. I still admire the 1st gen Sequoias. If nothing else for the roll down rear window.

I’m not saying this Toyota is good design, but I shake my head in puzzlement at certain individuals’ categorical disdain for six-hole front ends.

Overstated for comedic effect. But: I do not like them, Sam I Am, and this is about the blandest most pointless E-for-effort way to have one in the world.
